The Scrum Experience

An immersive introduction to the Scrum framework, the most widely-adopted Agile methodology to enhance collaboration and delivery. This interactive workshop delves into all of the Scrum Roles, Scrum Events, and Scrum Artifacts—equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to implement Scrum with their projects.

Participants engage in hands-on simulations and collaborative exercises, fostering a deep understanding of Scrum's practical application and preparing them to effectively contribute to Scrum teams.

Upon completion, attendees are equipped to pursue Scrum Master and Product Owner certifications, further enhancing their Scrum proficiency.

One of the big Scrum qualification agencies allows you to take their exams without paying for training. The exam fees are reasonable and are listed at the bottom of this page. Exam fees are not included in the price of this workshop.

Students taking this class are encouraged to take both Scrum Master and Product Owner exams.

Scrum Roles (30 min)
- Product Owner
  - Defines and prioritizes the Product Backlog
  - Maximizes value delivery
- Scrum Master
  - Facilitates Scrum practices and removes impediments
  - Coaches the team and fosters continuous improvement
- Development Team
  - Self-organizing, cross-functional professionals
  - Delivers a potentially shippable product increment
Scrum Events (50 min)
- Sprint Planning – Define the goal and work for the Sprint
- Daily Scrum – Inspect progress and plan for the next 24 hours
- Sprint Review – Showcase completed work to stakeholders
- Sprint Retrospective – Reflect and improve team processes
- The Sprint – The heartbeat of Scrum (typically 1-4 weeks)
Scrum Artifacts (50 min)
- Product Backlog – Ordered list of work items
- Sprint Backlog – Committed work for the Sprint
- Increment – The completed, potentially shippable work
Continuous Improvement & Next Steps (25 min)
- Recap key takeaways
- How to measure success
- How to refine the process
- Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement

Helene has been working as an Agile trainer, mentor, and coach for fifteen years. A coach of coaches, she leads the annual Agile Coach Retreat in Ann Arbor MI.

She has thirty years of experience in the IT industry
She consults and trains for the Fortune 500, startups, and mid-sized companies bringing broad Agile experience, coaching, and training to project teams

She is the founder of Agile Groupies, a Scrum Meetup, which has been running for 15 years

Exam fees are not included in the price of this workshop. After attending this course you will be directed where to go to take world recognized top-quality Scrum exams.

We recommend you take at least two.

All students do additional personal study to pass these exams. We show you what and how to study for each exam. Most students pass two exams within one week of taking this class. The content of this class is required for all of these types of exams.

Scrum Master: $150 exam fee
Product Owner: $200 exam fee
Developer: $200 exam fee
Kanban: $200 exam fee
Leader: $200 exam fee

The exam fees are with another organization and subject to change.

Students taking this class are encouraged to take at least Scrum Master and Product Owner exams within a week of completing the course.
